    ButcherBox vs Moink Box

Subscription meat boxes became all the rave years ago and they are still going strong. When shopping around it is important to review the pros & cons of these services. I have outlined my experience in this post touching on the differences between ButcherBox versus Moink Box.

Large ButcherBox delivered on a porch.

As more people care about the quality of meat and seek humanely raised options, companies like ButcherBox and Moink Box have been offering ethical products. If you are looking into either of these meat delivery services, you are not alone.

As prices increase at the big box and grocery stores, often time the best deal on organic chicken, grass-fed beef, pork, and seafood comes from membership. Both of these deliver directly to your home and offer box options to meet the needs of any family or household. Personally, my ButcherBox monthly price has gone up only $20 since the pandemic - yes, wow!

Here is a comparison of ButcherBox versus Moink Box. Which will you decide to order and make part of your meal planning?

For this quick review, I will compare several aspects of each meat delivery service. Many of us care about how much ButcherBox and Moink Box cost. It is also important to know the box sizes to compare what you get for your MONEY $$$!

When deciding between these two companies, the cuts of meat and seafood choices are reviewed - as well as how they are sourced. One company offers more cuts and organic options. One also is the clear winner in how many different price points and box options are offered. This and more will offer everything you need to know and how it all works.

    What Cuts are Offered?

Each company offers some staples like chicken breasts, pork chops, and NY strip steaks. But if you have certain cuts that you like, there are some differences between the two companies. One big difference I notice is that ButcherBox has more to choose from, especially for seafood lovers and those that enjoy pork.

Though Moink Box seems to offer lamb more often than ButcherBox that is hard to gauge. If you are a lamb lover, you may want to inquire with each and ask about that customer service.

Here is a breakdown of just some of the quality cuts of meat that each company currently offers. Some cuts will come and go and are seasonal - like when crab legs or baby back ribs show up seasonally for ButcherBox. Moink Box works with local USA farmers so the offerings can change from time to time which means special cuts may show up on the order list. Keep in mind this is not a complete list so check each for what is now available.

Quality & Sourcing of the Meats

Here is a brief rundown of the offerings each meat subscription box offers. Including grass-fed, organic, and wild-caught. If ethically raised meats and sustainable seafood options are important to you, here is what you need to know about ButcherBox and Moink Box. Both only offer types of meat raised without antibiotics.

As a side note, Moink Box works with local farms in the USA. Where does ButcherBox meat come from? ButcherBox works with farms in Australia for their grass-fed meats and continues to try and work with farmers in the USA. The pork and chicken are from the USA and Canada with specialty items like seafood, turkey, lamb, etc from the US.

** I will be 100% honest - this is why I have been using BUTCHERBOX for a few years. The grass-fed beef from Australia personally for me has exceptional taste and tenderness compared to what I was able to purchase locally in California. I was getting a "metallic" taste with other grass-fed options that do not exist with the delicious ButcherBox beef. The ButcherBox beef is far superior in the opinion of my entire family.

If you want organic chicken, Butcher Box is the meat subscription delivery service you want. All their chicken products are free-range and organic. Makes for some tasty teriyaki chicken skewers. Moink on the other hand does not offer organic chicken.

It was an existing member benefit that was offered at the time. BB has member offers every month sent to your inbox. This is also how I got the free wings for life deal years ago.
