    Crispy Air Fryer Keto Radishes

    Jump to Recipe

Crispy air fryer keto radishes are the low-carb answer to those that love roasted potatoes. These seasoned radishes are an easy recipe & done in 15 minutes. Radishes are a great replacement for potatoes in recipes when you want to watch your carb intake.  When you air fry radishes, they become tender with a texture similar to potatoes. That is what makes this simple recipe so amazing, it takes just a few minutes to have a comforting air-fried recipe.

Radishes when raw are pungent and have a lot of flavor in the little edible root vegetable.  Wondering what cooked radishes taste like? Cooked radishes become more mellow and a tad sweet but still has a sharp bite to them. When air frying radishes they become a bit sweet along with a little bit of their spicy flavor still intact.

    ARE RADISHES LOW-CARB & KETO

For a crispy keto snack, appetizer, or side dish, air frying radishes is a healthy and easy recipe.  Radishes are a low-calorie and low-carb food that packs a lot of flavor and nutrition in a small bite.  There really is no better quick & easy side dish, appetizer, or snack for those on a keto-friendly, low-carb, diabetic, or low-calorie diet.  For this entire recipe which uses one bunch of radishes, they are less than 20 calories and 2.3 net carbs for a serving that yields about 1 cup.

    INGREDIENTS FOR AIR FRYER RADISHES

To make air fryer radishes you only need 5 simple ingredients.  What I am sharing today is for 1 serving of cooked radishes for the keto diet.  It uses one bunch of radishes which comes out to 1 cup of radishes once trimmed and cut into small chunks.  You can easily multiple this recipe out to get the number of servings you need.

Besides the fresh radishes, it takes avocado oil and seasonings to make cook them in the air fryer.  Radishes need some seasoning so this recipe calls for salt, pepper, and garlic powder.  To help crisp up the radishes in the air fryer and for the season to stick, use avocado oil spray.

HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER KETO RADISHES

Begin this recipe by prepping your radishes. Wash the radishes, scrubbing off any dirt. Let them dry on a paper towel or in a colander.

Trim off the roots and stems but do not peel.  Cut the radishes to be  1-inch pieces so they are as uniform in size as possible. This ensures they all cook evenly.

    SEASON RADISHES BEFORE AIR FRYING

Place the radishes in a bowl and spray with avocado oil. Next, add the seasonings and toss to coat.

HOW LONG TO AIR FRY RADISHES

It does not take long to air fry radishes that have been cut into chunks.   Bigger chunks will take longer but if you cut these to be about 1" in size they should only take about 10-12 minutes.   To ensure they get enough air around them to cook evenly, place the seasoned radishes in a single layer in your air fryer basket or tray.  It is best to not overcrowd them so that the hot air can circulate around them to fry them properly.

Once the radishes are in the air fryer basket or tray, set it for 400F for 10-12 minutes.  At the midpoint around the 6 minutes shake or stir them around carefully.  Let them cook until they are brown & crispy on the outside and fork-tender on the inside.

HOW TO TELL WHEN AIR FRYER RADISHES ARE DONE

When the radishes are ready in the air fryer, they should have a few edges that have browned as if they were roasted in the oven.  They will shrink a bit and look shriveled.  The outside will be a bit crispy and just soft enough for a fork to pierce the radish. They should not be mushy but still have a bit of firmness in the center when you take a bite - think al dente.

Once they are done, they are ready to eat.  Serve immediately and top with parmesan cheese or fresh herbs – optional.

How to Store Air Fryer Radishes

Leftover air fryer radishes can be stored in an air-tight container or Ziploc bag.  Place them in the refrigerator and use them within 3 days.  Radishes cooked in the air fryer can also be frozen. Use the flash freeze method by placing the radishes in a single layer on a plate or sheet pan in your freezer. Let them freeze for about an hour.  Next, place them in an airtight Ziploc bag, remove all the air, and seal. Frozen leftover air fryer radishes can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months.  When you want to use them, place them in the refrigerator to thaw overnight.

Made these for Friendsgiving with my low-carb group of pals. Only one of us didn't care for these and he admits he simply wanted them to be potatoes so I say he does not count in the vote. I already bought more radishes at the store to make these again. I

I am glad to hear you will be making this again already. His vote counts too and though we all wish we could have potatoes all the time, these radishes are a good change to keep the calories and carbs low and for a healthy option.
