There is no easier 2-ingredient breakfast or dessert recipe than cinnamon roll pie. All you need is ready-made pie crust like Pillsbury and canned cinnamon rolls for this half-scratch recipe.  Cinnamon roll pie is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dessert. Ingredients for Cinnamon Roll Pie

All you need is 2 ingredients for this cinnamon roll pie recipe. That is all, just two items and both are ready-made items you can easily find at your grocery store.   Grab a can of Pillsbury canned cinnamon rolls and a box of pie crusts. You can make your own cinnamon rolls or pie crust too and it would be amazing.

However, this Cracker Barrel copycat recipe is a quick and easy cinnamon roll pie.  It can be ready even during busy weekdays for breakfast thanks to using store-bought pie crust and cinnamon rolls from a can. Elevating two simple store-bought items into a new breakfast recipe that is easy enough to have kids help make it.

Cinnamon Roll Pie (Cracker Barrel copycat) ingredients
    • Canned Refrigerated Cinnamon Rolls with Frosting
    • Pre-Made Pie Crust

    Variations

You can serve it for dessert also.  In addition, you can make this cinnamon roll pie with apple pie filling too.  Once you bake the crust for 5 minutes, then add canned apple pie filling and then top with the cinnamon rolls before baking the final 15 minutes. It is fantastic and like the ultimate cinnamon apple pie & apple danish all in one scrumptious bite.

You can also sprinkle in raisins and nuts for added yum. For Thanksgiving or Christmas sprinkle in some dried cranberries, Craisins, before baking for a holiday hit.

How to Make Cinnamon Roll Pie

Prepare a pie pan with nonstick cooking spray and preheat the oven to 400°. For the pie crust, as instructed on the box, bring it to room temperature for about 10 minutes. This allows it to unroll easily and shape into your pie pan.

Once it is ready, slowly unroll it and place it evenly in the pie pan. You will prebake this a bit so prick the bottom of the crust gently with a fork.  You can also crimp the edges if you want to have that design.

How Long to Bake Cinnamon Roll Pie

Bake the pie crust for 5 minutes in the 400° oven.   Once it is barely set up and ready, remove it from the oven. Open the canned cinnamon rolls and place them evenly in the center of the pie crust as seen below.  Place it back into the oven and cook for 15 minutes.

How to Know When It is Ready

Cinnamon roll pie will be ready when the crust is golden brown on the edges.  The cinnamon rolls will also have expanded and are fully baked taking up much of the inside of the pie crust.  At this point, let it rest on the counter for 3-5 minutes before frosting. If you frost it right away, the frosting tends to melt.

    Frost the Cinnamon Roll Pie

Once the cinnamon rolls are slightly cooled but still warm, they are ready to be frosted.   Using the frosting that comes in the canned cinnamon rolls,  drizzle it over the top of the cinnamon roll pie evenly.  I like to use a small spoon to scoop and let it drip while I frost it using a back & forth motion over the top of the pie.

How to Serve Cinnamon Roll Pie

This recipe makes 8 servings, so slice it accordingly. It is best served warm with frosting on top.  It is a great breakfast or brunch item as is.    Serve cinnamon roll pie with yogurt or fruit.  It is also great with just coffee, especially my MINT MOJITO ICED COFFEE, which is a Philz Coffee copycat recipe.

This cinnamon roll pie is an easy make-ahead breakfast recipe that is great for holidays like Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, & Christmas.

    Storing and Reheating

Cinnamon roll pie is very easy to store and reheat.  Simply cover it with foil or plastic wrap and store it on the kitchen counter for up to 2 days.  It reheats quickly in the microwave for just 15 seconds.  Since Cracker Barrel will make this as a seasonal special only until December 24, 2021, it has come and gone. But now you can enjoy it every year fresh-baked at home.

    FAQ

Can I use homemade pie crust?

If you have a family-favorite recipe, homemade pie crust is amazing in this recipe. This recipe was created to be so easy and that is why pre-made crusts are used but either will work.

    Is this a make-ahead recipe?

You can make cinnamon roll pie ahead of time. Another reason to love this recipe. You can bake it the night before holidays or school days. Then simply warm it up and frost it when you are ready to serve it. Perfect for Christmas morning when everyone is busy unwrapping presents.

We love Cracker Barrel for breakfast. This was a new one on their recipe and we are excited to make it at home too. We love it at the restaurant and sad to see it will go at Christmas but happy to make it at home.

This was easy and the kids loved it. We tried it with apple pie filling and cannot recommend this enough. We don't have a Cracker Barrel near us so we are happy to have this at home.

We had this at Cracker Barrel on Sunday. I made it today at home now and it was almost as good. There is more frosting at the restaurant but it was still so good, we just like a lot of frosting.

Yes made this yesterday and it is all gone today. We are a house of 3 people just so you know. It feels like a special breakfast but almost embarrassing how easy it is. I won't tell my mother-in-law that lives with us how easy it is for a secret.
