How to Make a Coconut Shake in the Blender
Milkshakes are blended drinks; therefore, you will need a blender for this recipe. If you are making one, a single-serving blender cup will do. But if you are doubling or tripling this recipe, use a full-sized blender pitcher or bowl.
Here are the easy steps for making ...
- Blend the Shake
- Serve & Top
1 - Blend the Shake
This recipe makes one shake. I use my Ninja Blender with the single-serving capsule. It blends beautifully in just seconds.
Scoop one cup of vanilla ice cream into the blender cup or pitcher.
Add coconut milk and place the lid on the blender cup. Attach to your blender base. Blend for 30 seconds or until smooth & fluffy.
Hint: Store the leftover coconut milk to use later. It is easy to learn how to freeze coconut milk.
2 - Serve & Top
Pour the homemade coconut shake into a drinking glass.
Top with optional whipped cream. Add a straw, large milkshake straws work best.
The cool creamy shake is best when enjoyed immediately.

Top Tips
All of these great tips are shared in the post. But these are so good and important they are worth mentioning again so you don't miss them.
- For a velvety taste, use only full-fat ice cream & coconut milk.
- Top with whipped cream for a fancy drink or dessert.
FAQ
Adding chunks of fresh coconut or regular/sweetened flakes to a shake will make it chunky. Pieces of coconut meat may be unpleasant to some people. If you wish to have a milkshake with bits & pieces of real coconut, add some. I recommend adding a small amount at first to make sure it is to your liking before overdoing it.
This milkshake is a classic recipe that uses ice cream as the main ingredient. For a recipe, try this vegan recipe for coconut shake without ice cream.
