    Benefits of Banana Juice

There are many health benefits to consuming fresh fruits. When it comes to making fresh banana juice at home, the nutrition & benefits are many. Here is what makes banana juice a healthy drink.

    • Low-Fat & Zero Cholesterol!
    • No refined sugars!
    • Potassium maintains low blood pressure, a regular heartbeat, & produces energy.
    • Fiber for improved digestion & helps you feel full.
    • Vitamin B6 for metabolism.
    • Magnesium for bone health & controls blood sugar.

Other reasons to love banana juice include the fact that kids love it, it's gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, nut-free, Paleo, Whole30, vegan, & vegetarian.

    Banana Juice Ingredients

Use a clear shot of the ingredients for this recipe, prepped, and labeled if necessary. Add a paragraph of content describing why these ingredients were chosen. Insert the ingredients into the list below, omitting quantities.

    Banana Juice Recipe Ingredients Labeled
    • Fresh Banana - the star of the recipe which gives it the creamy thickness.
    • Apple Juice - is added to help thin out the drink & adds sweetness.

See the recipe card for quantities.

Use a Blender, Not a Juicer

To make banana juice at home, you will need a blender. You cannot make this recipe with an electric or handheld juicer. The dense nature of bananas means they have no juice or liquid to extract so a juicer does not work.

Banana Juice Recipe Ingredients and blender cup, lid, & blender on the counter.

Hint: use a blender that has a single-serving cup - it's great for blending & on-the-go drinks like this. The Ninja Professional Smoothie Maker/Blender is my recommendation. It blends wells, can crush ice perfectly, & all at a great economical price.

    How to Make Banana Juice

This recipe is crazy simple. To make homemade fresh banana juice at home you need to have a good blender and just 1 minute of time. Seriously, it is that quick & easy.

Adding juice to blender cup filled with banana chunks to make homemade banana juice.

Here are the steps to make this banana juice recipe:

    • Add peeled banana to the blender container.
    • Pour in the apple juice.
    • Add the lid & affix the blender bowl or cup to your blender base.
    • Blend or puree for 1 minute.
    • Pour into a glass or drink it directly out of the blender cup if you are using a single-serving style.
Blending the two ingredients in the Ninja blender.

Enjoy the drink immediately. Banana juice is best when consumed right away.

    Variations

You can change up this recipe with a few ingredient substitutions or additions.

    • Milk - add milk instead of apple juice for a calcium-rich juice blend. This is a common way it is prepared & enjoyed in India.
    • Low-Sugar/Calorie - for a lower carb, sugar, & calorie version replace the apple juice with water instead.
    • Sweetened - add a tablespoon of honey for added sweetness.
    • Banana Orange Juice - add ½ cup of orange juice instead of apple juice.
    • Thick - use ¼ cup apple juice for a thicker texture.
    • Thin - use ⅔ cup apple juice for a thinner texture.

    Top Tip

This recipe is even better with overripe bananas. Overripe bananas tend to become sweeter with hints of vanilla and honey in the flavor as they ripen longer. Ideal for a dessert that will curb your sugar craving with a healthy option.

    Equipment

This recipe is made in a blender. There is no ice to crush or hard ingredients so any blender will do. I like my Ninja model with both the single serving cups so I can whip this up whenever anyone has a craving.

    Storing Banana Juice

This recipe does not hold up well to store & enjoy later. I do not recommend making this ahead of time or storing it in the refrigerator or freezer. Once the banana & apple juice is blended it should be enjoyed straight away. As time goes by, the juice & banana will separate.

    FAQ

Here are answers to some common questions. I hope you find what you need but if not, you are always welcome to send me a comment and I will get back to you.

    Do bananas have juice?

You cannot traditionally juice a banana. This recipe is made with a blender & a juicer will not work. This is because bananas do not contain juice or water like other fruits such as oranges & apples.

Why is my banana juice so thick?

Bananas do not contain what you think of as traditional "juice". To drink banana juice the fruit is blended to become creamy and it is thick. The blending doesn't remove the fibrous & starchy materials in the fruit so it is thick.

This recipe adds apple juice to thin it out for a more easily drinkable texture & consistency. If you want your banana juice thinner, add more apple juice blend & continue until it is the desired thickness.

Why did my juice turn brown?

If you do not consume the drink immediately it will start to turn brown & darken. This is due to the oxidation process of the blended banana. It is still safe & delicious to enjoy.

My juice separated, how can I get it creamy again?

The two ingredients in this blended drink will separate as it sits. To bring the drink back to its smooth creamy texture, put it back in the blender bullet, cup, or container and give it a 5-second whirl.

Can I make banana juice without a blender?

To get a smooth creamy drink, the blender is best. However, in a pinch, you can add the ingredients to a food processor & use a high speed to chop/combine them together. An immersion blender will also work if you put the ingredients in a tall wide container leaving plenty of space to blend & not splatter.
