Is a slow cooker good for making soup?

OH YES! It is one of my favorite ways to make soup. It is ideal especially for tough cuts of meat that are great for cooking low & slow like in my recipe for Slow Cooker Corned Beef without the Veggies.

Can I make stews too?

Yes if you like a hearty soup, stews are amazing in the slow cooker. My favorite Hungarian Goulash is a CrockPot recipe. Or try a bowl of Slow Cooker Chicken Stew.

How long does it take to cook soup in a Crock-Pot?

Each recipe will be different but most take 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low. If you have a programmable slow cooker that has a warm setting after the timer is done cooking, you can go as long as 10-12 hours on some recipes - great for those working and commuting long hours!

What is the best way to blend a soup?
