Wow! What an exciting, challenging, and rewarding this first year of blogging has been. One year in and so much to celebrate and be thankful for. When I registered my THESHORTORDERCOOK domain again in late 2018, to now begin a blog instead of a personal chef business, I had no idea how much I would really love this new adventure. I knew it would be great but it really has exceeded all my expectations.
FIRST OFF, THANK YOU!
Without all the amazing readers and followers, The Short Order Cook would not be nearly as fun and rewarding. I enjoy every comment on the blog, every like on Instagram, every pin save on Pinterest, and all the likes, comments, and shares on Facebook. Every time someone reaches out or tags a friend to join the fun, it makes me so excited. Keep it coming and I look forward to hearing more in the years to come.

Blogging For an Income & You Can Do it Too
Many of you have asked and if you are curious, here are some of the most common ways bloggers make money. I will be honest, one year in there is not a lot of income. That is not uncommon for new bloggers. Everything I have read before I started this journey was it takes about 1-2 years to really get a blog business off the ground.
This list is not all-inclusive but here are some ways I make money and what I will be also working towards in the years to come*. Whether is it sponsored posts or product reviews, I only honestly write about products, services, and companies that I truly believe in. All my opinions expressed on this blog or through my social media posts are 100% my own words and completely genuine.

Thanks for sharing such an honest post. I am so glad that you are being real with other bloggers about how the first year or two is mostly work and little pay. Your transparency will certainly boost your credibility when it comes to your other posts. Thanks for being so encouraging, too. I am going to re-read this post on those days when I feel like giving up. I am just over a year into blogging, and only in the last month have I seen any real growth spurts and serious traction. Keep on keeping on!
Angela says
OMG Christy you made my day! I am so happy to help encourage others to not give up. It takes some time but the work is rewarding. Do NOT give up. I think bloggers in many cases give up probably right before the growth starts. You are on your way and I enjoy your blog so much. To many years of success for both of us! Cheers!
